THE JOURNEY

Thursday April 30

What a glorious day it is. We so enjoyed Bible study last night at the church. We are lifting up the
Lakewood community in prayer. They are working towards community revitalization in the area and last
night after Bible study, they were offering jobs to those in the neighborhood who would like to make
changes, both in themselves and in the neighborhood. They are jobs offering to help those who need to
finish school or learn things so that they can support their families and make change within the
neighborhood. They are sharing the Lord and showing them that even when bad decisions have been our
pasts, that even prostitutes can be saved, that addictions can be broken, if only one will learn of God and
give their lives to Him. We are praying that these people in the area will take up the challenge and go forth
to claim their inheritance as children of God and to change their lives into the promises of our God.

As we were driving to Bible study last night, we met a young man named Marvin while we were waiting at a
light. He had seen our license plate and handed me an invitation to go to a Bible study. He was telling us
how the church also has one (El Elyon International, Mason Betha Ministries) out in Phoenix Arizona. It’s a
small world. We told him that we in fact were on our way to Bible study. We are lifting up Marvin as he goes
forth to share with others. Thank you brother Marvin for stopping and talking.

We feel that we will be here a bit longer but we do feel the Lord directing us north. The Lord is leading us
to some great knowledge of His will in our lives here in Atlanta. He is opening new avenues of the Journey
and that’s what this Journey is about. It’s going where the Lord leads us and being with the people that He
places us with. It is such a joy to know that the Lord confirms us with those we meet. HE makes us happy
and fills us with such joy. We are so blessed that the Lord has brought us to this Journey and that HE
makes each day new and even though we do not know what each day brings, everything has been a
blessing and our hearts are overflowing with His peace.

PRAISE TO OUR KING.

Monday April 27

It’s Monday morning and we are preparing ourselves for the day. We have been reading the Bible as is our
custom each morning. The Lord reveals His plans, His instructions for us in His Word and we so often miss
the very Words that bring us life.
Saturday was a day spent in preparing the Weekly Way. Friday night we shared a meal with Melissa, she
opened her home to us and we are so thankful. We prepared hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill. She
has a friend living with her that is from France and is over here studying. Emily and Joseph and Jamie and
Kacey were with us.
Before this Journey, we had only known Emily and Joseph through email. Emily and I had met on line
through a prayer site. They are going through some difficult family times and we ask that you lift them up
in prayers. The Lord had us come here so that we could help bear their burdens with friendship, prayer
and fellowship.
Emily and Joseph brought us to their church which is located at 1766 Lakewood Ave. As I had said before,
3 different churches worship here. We have been going to the 5 o’clock service on Sunday but they have
one at 10 A.M. and one at 1 P.M. We have meet the other 2 ministers as well at Wednesday night’s Bible
study. They will be combining services for the summer months.
Sunday, the minister welcomed a new baby into his family, very early that morning, Aniyah. Please lift her
and her family up in prayers as we welcome this new little one into the world. We met another young man
who is homeless. Please lift him up in prayer as well. Sherie and Shane are still in need of prayer for their
homeless situation and Shane is trying to find a job. The church fellowship ends with a meal and those
that are homeless are able to come and share this meal. If you are ever in Atlanta, please visit this church
and share in their wonderful love for the Lord.
Please lift us up in prayer as well as we are praying for God’s direction as to where we go next. We are
feeling His call and will listen as He leads. Please feel free to share this Journey. Have a blessed day in the
Lord! Praise be to our King!

Friday April 24
Henry and I spent most of the day in prayer yesterday. We read the Word and studied and prayed for the
Lord guidance. Today we are headed off to a couple of nursing homes to visit. It is nice to be asked to visit. If
you know someone that you would like us to stop and be with along our travels, please let us know. We are
here to be with whomever the Lord wishes us to be with.

We had quite the storm last night and it produced rain. We are so use to the desert monsoons that can
have a lot of thunder and lighting but not always produce rain. We have seen a few robins. I don’t see
robins in Arizona. It’s wonderful to sit outside and not be overwhelmed by the heat of the sun and burned.
Arizona has its beauty, but the heat has always been too much for me. I burn easy and get sick from the
heat. Because of this, I have avoided the sun and now I have a vitamin D deficiency. The best way to let your
body absorb vitamin D is to sit in the sun with no sunscreen each day. Not for long periods. Too much sun
is not good for you either.

We pray that you have a blessed day and that the Son shines in your life.

Wednesday April 22
We are getting ready to go to a prayer meeting here in Atlanta. It’s at a church that actually is not being
used by the denomination any longer. There are 3 different churches that use it for their services. I must
be truthful, I’m not sure where it is in Atlanta. This is where we went to church on Sunday and it was
evening time that we went. It will be a little later tonight, but I will try and pay attention.
We were out exploring a little today, but did not go to far. The streets were interesting to say the least. Our
brake light went out on the van and we needed to buy a new one. We went to the Target and it was
underground. I will try and get a picture. We will take more pictures soon. Target did not have the brake
light and so we had to go down to a Pep Boys.
The weather is something that we are not use to. It’s been in the 60’s. I actually had to put on my
sweatshirt. My brother tells me it was 102 in Phoenix yesterday. It has been such beautiful weather, we
have had some rain and there are clouds. God is certainly giving us such wonderful weather.
Please lift up Emily and Joseph that the Lord will guide them to solve their housing problem. Thank you.

We are on Facebook, under noreenkevern@yahoo.com. We have posted a Picture album on there as well.

Tuesday April 21
We are still in Atlanta. The Lord is allowing us to minister to Emily and Joseph. They have encountered
some family problems that need much prayer. Each night we have prayer time together and pray and talk
about things. Emily and Joseph come together with their granddaughters each morning to share
Scriptures and prayer before the day begins. Please keep Joseph and Emily in prayer for their family
problems. We share the Scriptures to see what God is saying and we are taking time to rest as well. Henry
has been really tired as yesterday he slept for quite a long time. The driving takes its toil on him; he doesn’t
have the stamina that he had before his strokes.

Some of what we have seen in Atlanta gives us to ask that you pray for this city. There is a lot of strip clubs
and their signs are very reflective of what happens in them. There are a lot of people here in the city and a
lot of traffic as well. Driving on the freeway portions is like driving in L.A. or any big city and there seems to
be those who are very impatient and that makes driving dangerous. They do have a rail system that we hear
running behind the house here.

Henry and I will be spending some time today to reflect on the next leg of The Journey. We are going to see
what campgrounds are available in some of the neighboring states to see where the Lord is going to be
leading us next. Please lift up in prayer our need for an RV or trailer for The Journey. We have found that
the van is too small, not giving to room for Bibles or room to live in during inclement weather or to invite
people in for private prayer. Have a great day in the Lord’s unfailing love. God bless you.

Monday April 20th
Sunday evening we joined Emily and Joseph and their grandchildren at their church. It was a very nice mix
of people. It was wonderful how they welcomed the homeless. I was able to minister to a homeless couple,
Sheri and Shane. Please lift them up in prayer. We shared a meal after the service.
We feel that the Lord has brought us here for a several reasons. Emily and Joseph feel that we are here to
pray with them with some issues that they have been dealing with. They would also like us to join them in
their ministry work with the homeless and a nursing home. We feel as if the Lord is leading us to do so as a
learning experience for what He has planned for us.

Sunday April 19th

Good day to everyone. What a wonderful day that this is. Let us give thanks to the Lord for all His beauty
and merciful grace. I pray that this finds you and your family well and that you are enjoying the Lord’s day.

We are in Atlanta right now at Emily and Joseph’s house. We are having a day of rest and contemplating
what God wants us to do next. We thank Emily and Joseph for their offer of a bed and a shower!

God has a plan and He is revealing it bit by bit. When all seems that there is nothing or no direction, just
keep on trusting in the Lord. He will guide your path and lead you to where He wants you to be in your life.

Saturday April 18th

Yesterday was a really hard day for me. We arrived in my friend Kris’ town, only to discover that I was too
late. Kris passed away 3 weeks ago. Henry and I went to visit her grave and then we visited with her mother
for the afternoon. Thank you for all of you who prayed for her.
We are now back out on the road, on I-20 and headed for the Atlanta area. We are going to find a
campground to stay at for at least a few days or a week, depending upon how the Lord leads us. So if you
are in the Atlanta area and would like us to stop by your church on Sunday, write us or give us a call. We
would be glad if you would stop by our campsite. I’ll post later on to let you know where.
The weather has been rainy but it is beginning to clear up, the sun is coming through. We awoke to rain
this morning. We so enjoy the rain as it is not something we get a lot of in Arizona. The green trees and
grass are so beautiful. People are nice wherever we go.

Thursday April 16, 2009

We are in Texas, just outside of the west side of Dallas/Ft. Worth. We are heading to the east side of Dallas
tonight. It’s almost 8 here. We are heading to Louisiana first as I have not heard from Kris lately. She was
going to be put into hospice that last time I heard from her a couple of months ago. We normally talk every
couple of months and when I called her cell phone, it went straight to voice mail. I’m praying that she just
used up her minutes. Kris is very sick and has been for 15 years. We have only ever talked on the phone
and by email. We met via a Christian site. We have prayed that the Lord will let us meet in person before
He calls her home. She is ready to go if it is her time.

We just drove past a billboard. It said, “Unfailing love surrounds those who follow the Lord!” What a
wonderful saying.

It’s drizzling right now. There are beautiful wild flowers on the sides of the roads. There is now a lot of
green. We are use to being in the desert of Arizona. The desert has it’s own beauty and much of New
Mexico and Texas has been much of what we are use to. Henry and I are originally from the Midwest and
the East, so we grew up knowing green grass and rain. But having lived in the desert for over 35 years now,
except for a few years when we moved and then came back.

Yesterday, after we left, I didn’t go online. Henry and I were just enjoying the fact that the Lord has done
what He said He wanted us to do. God is so amazing. Here we are out on the road, meeting people and
sharing God’s love. We are trusting in God to provide and He is. When we surrendered to His will and
listened to Him guide us to leave our home and to go out and reach whoever He placed in our Journey, we
trusted that it would happen.

We were traveling through El Paso, Texas last night, and we passed by the Rio Grande and saw Mexico
across the way. We talked about getting our passports so we can go there and preach. It’s funny, we had to
go to the post office before we left and we picked up the applications for them, just thinking about how we
might want to go, and when we looked across, it just seemed like it might happen. God at least put the
thought into our heads. I’ll be posting that picture and a couple of others of The Journey so far.

April 14
Well, we are almost on the road! Some last minute things to take care of, and tomorrow morning we are off.
Our daughter is signing up for nursing today at one of the local colleges and Henry had to go to help her
with paperwork.

We have everything packed and just need to finish putting things in the van. We tried to keep things to a
minimum but we seem to still have too much stuff! The refrigerator that we were going to use didn’t work
with the van’s electrical system and we could not get replacement parts for the toilet that we had received.
So we are going to use our cooler and keep ice in it. We also received a gift certificate and it covered half the
price of the toilet we bought! The power supply cord went out on the laptop, but we were able to find one
locally instead of having to order it. Our insurance issue is resolved as well. Everything is falling into place.

We slept out in the van last night with our granddaughter. She wanted to sleep with us in the van before
we go. She slept in the captain’s chair in the front while Henry and I slept in the back on the bed. My hips
hurt during the night we can’t quite stretch out as far as I am use to. When we are able to stay at a
campground we will be able to set up the tent and use the air mattress and then I’ll be able to stretch out.
Henry had his feet out the back window and our granddaughter thought it looked funny seeing his white-
socked feet sticking out the window!

We will take pictures before we leave in the morning. We hope to make it to Texas by the end of tomorrow if
that’s where the Lord directs us. We are going to play it day by day. We hope to hear from all of you. We
know that this first time is going to be fun and getting our feet wet and then when we come back for a
wedding in May that I have to do and go back out until July when I have another engagement and back out
again. We will update as each day goes on.

Please pray for the success of this Journey. We are so blessed that the Lord has called us to do this. Please
share this with others and ask them to pray as well.

Thank you and God bless you!

April 3
As with anything in life, sometimes we hit a snag. And so we have. But it will not put off the mission
journey that we are going to be taking. We have had the tent trailer up in the backyard working on it and
have had some mighty winds lately. It’s a pretty old trailer, I think it’s 1977. Well, the back window that
encompasses the whole box area of the trailer has lost its seams and has come undone. But not to worry,
we have simply decided to just go in the van and not worry about the tent trailer at this time. We went out
and bought a small tent and will use that instead. We are going to put the toilet in the van along with a
refrigerator.

I have also been experiencing some difficulties in receiving one of my medications that I need. It seems the
pharmacy’s computer is having some difficulties with the insurance computer. It’s been more than 2 weeks
of trying to get this straightened out and we are confident that we will do so.

So in the meantime we decided to wait until after Easter. After all, Easter is about new beginnings and this
is a new beginning for Henry and myself. We felt it was appropriate to wait until then. One last snag to take
care of and off we shall be.

We have posted some pictures of the van. We had purchased this 1993 Ford van about 10 years ago. When
we were looking at it, I had noticed that it had a dove symbol on it that symbolized the Holy Spirit so I just
knew that I had to buy this van. We are taking the old TV out of it. After all, it’s not digital and will not be of
any use. Our laptop will provide what we need if we want to watch a movie. We will take along some of our
movies and our music CD’s for the journey. We won’t be taking as much along, but that’s okay. It’s good to
not have much but just what we need. We will have Bibles and are looking forward to sharing with you out
on the road.
Thank You !

We would like to thank a few people who have helped us to begin.
