"I AM the Way, the Truth and the Life.
No one comes to the Father except through Me.
If you really knew Me,
you would know My Father as well.
From now on, you know Him and have seen Him."

Jesus The Bread of Life

Jesus said to them,
“I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats My flesh and
drinks My blood, has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For My flesh is real food and My blood is real drink. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks
My blood remains in Me and I in him. Just as the living Father sent Me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on Me will live because of Me.
This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your forefathers ate manna and died, but he who feeds on this bread will live forever.
John 6:53-58

Many people fell away from following Jesus because of this statement. For many today, this still seems to be a radical statement, one which causes many
people to take it literally instead of what Jesus was speaking of. That’s a problem that is common for many people. When they read or hear the Scriptures, they
take each word to mean exactly what it says, instead of reading and studying the Scriptures to see when God uses imaginary so that His Word is used to fit the
essence of what God wants to teach. It’s a fine line learning to understand God’s Word and the meaning that is interpreted by man. Too often, people take the
inspired Word of God to justify something literally that is not meant to be taken literally.

So let’s look at the next part of this Scripture and listen to where Jesus is leading.
On hearing it, many of His disciples said, “This is a hard teaching. Who can accept this?” Aware that His disciples were grumbling about this, Jesus said to
them,
“Does this offend you? What if you see the Son of Man ascend to where He was before! The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I
have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.”
John 6:60-63

Here is the crux of belief. Jesus is teaching us the center of what faith is. It is not of the flesh, of this earth, but it is of the Spirit, it is of God. Far too often, man
looks at things from the flesh, and not from the Spirit. We work too much at things that are of the flesh and not of God. We want so much flesh, that we have
lost our ability to live in the Spirit. We think that our work is for our benefit, and don’t even think about what work God wants from us. We labor that we may have
more, but what do we want more of? A bigger house, a better car, or are we laboring to do as Jesus did? Jesus tells us:
“Do not work for food that spoils, but
for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On Him God the Father has placed His seal of approval.”
John 6:27

So then, what are we to do then? What is the work that God wants? Jesus answered,
“The work of God is this: to believe in the One He has sent.” John 6:29

Okay, that sounds easy enough right? Then why do we see such anguish and strife in the world? Why are so many people struggling in their lives? I have faith
and I’m struggling. Does that mean that my faith isn’t strong enough?
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you
know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
James 1:2-4
We are to consider it a joy that the Lord is molding us into what His will is for our lives. God works out in us through our trials, the things that are
holding us from being all He wants us to be. We must consider it pure joy, because the Lord is our strength and that brings us into joy. There are times when
those trials that the Lord is bringing us through that seem so long and hard, and it is in those times that we can call upon others to help us by praying for us. It’s
not a bad thing to ask for prayer when you need to.

In Hebrews (13:20-21) we read:
May the God of peace, Who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead Lord Jesus, that great
Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing His will, and may He work in us what is pleasing to Him, through Jesus Christ, to Whom be
glory for ever and ever. Amen
. Our trials equip us with what we need to do His will, and in every trial that we face, we are to thank God that He sees in us,
something useful for His plan. We are to encourage one another when we are going through trials, and we need to always remember to do so with love. It’s not
a heavy burden if we place ourselves in God. Jesus said:
“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you
and learn from Me, for I AM gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30

“Come to Me,” coming to Jesus, first before anything or anyone else. We need to place our lives in Jesus, and learn from Him. He is the bread that feeds us
and by God’s Word we can grow into maturity. Do I get impatient at times during the trials? You bet I do. Why? Because I have let myself go from my safe place
in God and allow the flesh to gain a foothold, but thank God, He quickly reins me back to where I need to be. He encourages me to ask others to pray, and in
doing so, I feel the yoke ease and I know that I have been blessed that God has given me the chance to share His love. When I ask for prayer, I know that there
are others who believe in God as well, and it encourages me. God has never forsaken me through all the trials that He has given to me. Each trial has brought
me closer to God, teaching me something that I needed to learn. And in the process, my life is more and more dependant on God. This time of trial has been
very hard, but God has been teaching me perseverance, and I know that God is finishing His work in me, equipping me for even more. I don’t know what God
has planned for me, and that’s okay. I trust that God will never abandon me and I know that everything will be all right. He will work things out in His timing for
His timing is perfect.

The ransomed of the Lord will return. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow
and sighing will flee away. Isaiah 51:11
I know that my joy is in God’s strength, and I have found such joy coming day by day to the Lord and asking Him for His
strength for each day. Each Sabbath, as we celebrate the Lord’s Supper, we are nourished by His body and blood. It’s important that we celebrate the Lord’s
Supper, because by His body and blood, His grace overflows through us. It reminds us that we are to be filled with God’s Spirit in our lives. God wants us to
trust Him. Just as in when Jesus fed five thousand with five small barley loaves of bread and two small fish, we must trust Him to take the little that we have and
allow Him to multiply it with His grace.

This will only happen when we have learned to follow God with our whole hearts, our whole souls, our whole minds and our whole strength. Anything less and
we are not complete. We have to work day by day, learning what God wants us to learn. It doesn’t mean that you are not succeeding in learning if you are still
going through trials; it means that God is perfecting you for greater things. Even if you know someone who seems to have everything, it doesn’t mean that they
are walking with the Lord. Many people, who are successful in the world’s eyes, are really struggling to build a relationship with the Lord. It’s all in perspective,
what is important in the flesh, is not important in the Spirit. Remember, faith is in the heart of the believer, if one doesn’t have faith, they will not understand
what God is speaking through His Word. We have to believe in the One He has sent and build our lives through Jesus. He is the only way to the Father.

We can’t build our lives on something that is not of God. We need to build our lives on solid rock and that rock is God. When the storms of life come, and they
will, when our foundation is in God, we will come through each trial stronger and more equipped to do God’s will for our lives. No matter how many times you fail,
pick yourself up and ask God to fill you with His strength, so that you can begin again. Never, ever give up! If you do, the devil will win. Each day is a chance to
share God’s love with all. Don’t judge someone in their circumstance, but judge yourself, for in doing so, you will find that there are things that you need to work
on. No one is perfect and if they say that there is nothing that God needs to improve in their lives, they are lying. We will not be perfect until God brings us
home. Live each day, sharing all that God has blessed you with. Give generously to others, encourage one another, and
keep on loving each other as
brothers. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. (John 6:1-2)

Keep on trusting in the Lord, believing that He is the bread of life and be filled with God’s Spirit. No matter what is going on, God is bigger than anything that
comes to you. When tempted, God always leaves a way out, if you choose to take it. Learn from God and your joy will be complete. And finally:
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,
  “Never will I leave you;
          never will I forsake you.”
So we say with confidence,
“The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?”
Hebrews 13:5-6
