Open My Eyes To See

But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear Him, on those whose hope is in His unfailing love, to deliver them from death and keep them
alive in famine. We wait in hope for the Lord; He is our help and our shield. In Him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in His holy Name. May Your
unfailing love be with us, Lord, even as we put our hope in You.
          Psalm 33:18-22

There is a saying, “The eyes are the windows to the soul,” that has been quoted by many, and some say its origins are in Matthew 6:22-23: “The
eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be
full of darkness. If then, the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness.”
What we see with our eyes fills our brains and our souls with
images that are good and evil. Just how often do we fill our eyes with things that are of God compared to the things that are of the devil? Do you
find yourself be seduced by the shameless lusts that Satan puts in front of you? Do you look away from the evil things and fill yourself with the good
things that God has placed before you? It’s so easy for Satan to beguile us. We don’t think twice about things around us and we have let Satan
place before us so many things that are not of God and allowed him to let immorality run rampart in our lives. We are not even phased (phased: a
period of time when a situation or particular pattern of behavior persists and is often annoying or worrying, Encarta Dictionary) any longer when we
see sexual immorality and we condemn those who live by God’s Word that they are judging those who commit these sins. We even hold the
people who do these things up with high esteem. We think good of those who have committed adultery because they do good things like adopt
children. We allow marriage to be hijacked by those who choose a homosexual lifestyle. We lust after women who pose in magazines in bathing
suits and less. Men and women live together instead of getting married. We allow our eyes to be filled with these unhealthy things and so our
minds and our souls are unhealthy.

We fail to
love the Lord with all of our heart and all of our soul and all of our mind and all of our strength (Mark 12:30) because we are so afraid
of giving us our selfish life that we have forgotten that God is our Lord and Savior. We err in diversity because we want everyone to feel good
about their selves even when they are sinning against the Lord. Woe to you who have chosen to listen to Satan instead of listening to God. When
the time comes that you will be standing before God to be judged for your life, will you be able to say you trusted in the Lord and listened to His
Word and followed the way of the Lord or will your life say that Satan fooled you into believing that his lies were okay to live out?

“Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices; together they shout for joy. When the Lord returns to Zion, they will see it with their own eyes.” (Isaiah
52:8-9)
Watchmen proclaim peace, we bring good tidings, we proclaim salvation and that God reigns (Isaiah 52:7), we teach that God’s Word is
our instruction book to learn what He wants of our lives that He gave us. But so many people have turned away from God and allowed the devil to
hold them in the chains of sin and refuse to listen to the Lord and to turn from a life of sin and repent (to feel regret about a sin or past actions and
change your ways or habits, Encarta Dictionary). Some people would rather wallow in the muck of diversity and forego God’s ways. Do you have
peace in your life or are you constantly at war with yourself because you have chosen to forget God and His commands? Are you afraid of looking
deeply into your soul and to ask God to show you His way, His truth and His life (John 14:6)? Would seeking God’s truth change your entire life?

Let God give you His eyes for a time and see the life that you are living through God’s eyes. We have to seek the Lord in order to know what He
wants in our lives. Do you give the Lord any time during the week? Do you seek Him in His Word for your life? Do you give God your time on the
Sabbath and worship Him with others? Being with others to worship the Lord is one way of keeping the Sabbath holy. Jesus said in John 14:23-
24:
“Anyone who loves Me will obeys My teaching. My Father will love them, and will make Our home in them. Anyone who does not love Me
will not obey my teachings.”
Do you love Jesus enough to obey His teachings or are you so caught up in your own self, blinded by Satan that you
don’t want to obey God and live the way you want? Obey is such a hard word for so many. To obey God means that you have to do what He tells
you and in order to know what He wants you will have to know His Word. You have to study it and apply it to your life. That will mean taking time
away from the TV and other things and pursue the Word of the Lord and to grow in knowledge and wisdom of the Lord. We cannot say we are
saved unless we know what we are saved from.

We look at things though our own eyes and never think twice about looking at things from God’s eyes. When God created the heavens and the
earth and all things including humans, He created a life full of order so that we have balance in life. But humans have forgotten to honor God with
their lives and have listened to the devil and allow his lies to tell us that it is okay to have our own rules and to follow them. Our eyes have been
polluted by the flesh and we have not honored God by follow His way.

“If you love Me, keep My commands. And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—the
Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you will know Him because He lives in you.”
(John
14:15-17) When we come to know Jesus and accept Him as our Lord and Savior, we have to begin to obey. We receive baptism to be washed
clean and let God’s Spirit comes and lives in us. The Holy Spirit will teach us all that we need to be.

It’s not easy to obey. There are so many distractions that the devil places in front of us so that we may take our eyes off the Lord and often don’t
realize it. How it grieves the Holy Spirit when we disobey God’s Word in order to follow the lusts of our hearts. Think about it. When we accept
Jesus as our Savior and ask Him into our hearts, and then don’t change our ways, but continue in our sin, how is that accepting Jesus? Are we
true believers if we continue in our sin and do not come to know and obey the Lord? Jesus said in Matthew 7:21-23:
“Not everyone who says to
Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of My Father Who is in heaven. Many will say to Me on
that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your Name and in Your Name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew
you. Away from Me, you evildoers!”
When your time comes to stand before the Lord, which will He say: “Welcome home,” or “Away from Me?”

Psalm 32 expresses the life we are to live. The Psalmist David says:

1. Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Jesus died on the cross to cover your sins.
2. Blessed is the one whose sin does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit. When we accept Jesus in our lives and repent, our
sins are washed away and we begin to change our lives to live in the
Spirit.
3. When I kept silent, my bones wasted away though my groaning all day long. When we ignore our sins and not acknowledge them to the Lord we
waste away and our lives have no meaning.
4. For day and night Your hand was heavy on me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. When we continue to think we are saved yet
not follow the way of the Lord, we feel as if we have a weight upon us and we begin to be depressed and sapped of any feeling about living
life.
5. Then I acknowledged my sin to You and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.” And You forgave the
guilt of my sin. We cannot hide from the Lord for He sees all and knows all. Once we are truthful and tell God what we now know as sin, we can be
free from the guilt of our sin. God forgives us and we can forgive our self.
6. Therefore let all the faithful pray to You while You may be found; surely the rising of the mighty waters will not reach them. We need to accept the
Lord and follow Him before it is too late and He returns. Then when the time comes, we will be secure in our faith no matter what the end times will
bring. The time to change is today for we do not know the day or the hour of Jesus’ return.
7. You are my hiding place; You will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. Then we can rest and be at peace
because we have placed ourselves in the Lord. He will be with us in all things and we can sing praise to
Him.
8. I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with My loving eye upon you. We read His Word and allow the Holy
Spirit to teach us His ways.
9. Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you. If we
allow ourselves to continue in sin and do not make any effort to follow the Lord’s way, God’s knowledge and wisdom will not come to us. We have
to choose to surrender our lives to God and to walk in all of His ways.
10. Many are the woes of the wicked, but the Lord’s unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in Him. When we trust in the Lord, He surrounds us
and holds us in His love. Nothing that happens to us will affect us because we have entered into His
rest.
11. Rejoice in the Lord and be glad, you righteous; sing, all you who are upright in heart. Rejoice in the Lord in all things. Thank Him every day for
the blessings that He sends to us and be glad in all circumstances. For those who know the Lord will do what is right in His eyes; listen to music
that gives praise to the Lord and let it fill your lives.

God’s eyes are always upon us. He knows everything about you so that we do not have to fear coming to Him and confessing our sin to Him. We
need to open our eyes so that we can see what the Lord has for us. We need to claim the promises of Christ and live them in our lives. Let us no
longer live in fear of God, but trust in Him. He will never leave us or forsake us in our times of trials. He is with us always. Don’t be blinded by the
evil one and let him destroy what God has for you. Surround yourself with the Lord and give Him the honor and praise He deserves. Be controlled
by God’s Spirit and live your life in His amazing love.
