"I AM the Way, the Truth and the Life.
No one comes to the Father except through Me.
If you really knew Me,
you would know My Father as well.
From now on, you know Him and have seen Him."
John  14: 6-7

Silence

But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear Him, on those whose hope is in His unfailing love, to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine.
We wait in hope for the LORD; He is our help and our shield. In Him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in His holy Name. May Your unfailing love rest upon us,
O LORD, even as we put our hope in You.
Psalm 33:18-22

Silence.
Let’s sit for a moment in silence.
What do you feel in this moment? Was your mind blank or was it jumping about from here to there thinking about many things?
Did you feel happy, sad, joy or sorrow? Were you comfortable in the silence, or uncomfortable?
Silence is often where we meet God. Does that sound strange to you?
“Be still, and know that I AM God” Psalm 46:10.
Be still: were you still as you were sitting there in silence? Be still and listen. Do you find that hard?
Try it again. Be still and listen for God’s silence.
Was it easier because this time you were trying to focus on God? Or did your mind wander?

Silence.
God is there within the silence. He talks to you in the silence.
“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, Who is unseen”
Matthew 6:6.
God wants you to come to Him and have a personal relationship with Him. He wants you to come alone,
without the distractions of the world and talk with Him so that He is first in your life.
A certain ruler asked Him,
“Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” Luke 18:18. We are to ask the same thing.
“God, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” Jesus answered: “You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not give
false testimony, honor your father and mother.” Luke 18:20.
Do you follow the commandments? We have taken the Ten Commandments out of schools, out of
courts, out of the public eye and out of our lives. How then are we to follow them? How then are we to know?
What have you learned in your life so far?
Have you kept the commandments?
What more does God want from you?
“You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me.” Luke 18:22
Are you following the way of the Lord?
Have you given up your life and allowed the Lord to be your Lord and Master?
Do you find it hard to give up all that you are to become all that God wants you to be? Do you ask why you have to give up who and what you are to be what
God wants you to be? Do you say it’s too hard to do?
Some people have found it easy to give up their selves and follow God. For others, it was when they were at the lowest point of their lives, at rock bottom,
alone, drunk, strung out on drugs, sick, in despair, doing things that have caused harm to self or others, that they realized that they had nothing to cling to; that
in that moment of silence, when they realized that their life was a mess, that they finally heard God in the silence. I’ve been there, at rock bottom. I was a
member of a church, doing all the things that the church said I should do, involved, but something was missing. Crisis was happening in my life, and kept
building with trial upon trial. In my despair, I decided to depend on me, to pull myself up by my own bootstraps. I didn’t trust God when He was silent. I didn’t
allow myself to listen in silence.
And once again, I am facing many trials, but in them, I am finding joy. Yes, joy! For through my trials, I come to God and ask Him for His strength and in His
strength is my joy! I am not worried by what is going on in my life and in the world around me. I have placed my trust in the Lord and sing praises up to Him!
What I found in my life was that I followed a church and not God. It’s easy to get caught up in the simple process of following a church. It’s a much harder thing
to follow God. You can justify what you are doing by saying the church says I can do this or the church says you can’t do that. Then you are depending upon
what you do or not do for your salvation. It’s a much harder thing to depend on God and to allow Him to control your life.
Let’s go back into the silence again. This time, make an effort to hear God. Just be for a moment, in the Presence of God.
It is in the silence, that one meets with God. Take time each day to come to God in silence. At first it will be hard to meet God in the silence. Ask God to fill you
with His strength. Jesus came down to earth and overcame everything that we face. God loves you that much. His commands for our life are not burdensome
and they are not hard. The hardest thing we face is our inability to trust in God by letting go of our self. Have confidence in God. He will never leave you. Even
if you don’t believe in Him, He believes in you.

Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise Him. Praise the Lord with the harp;
make music to Him on the ten-stringed lyre. Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy!
Psalm 33:1-3
