"I AM the Way, the Truth and the Life.
No one comes to the Father except through Me.
If you really knew Me,
you would know My Father as well.
From now on, you know Him and have seen Him."
John  14: 6-7

The Passage of Time

Then you will understand what is right and just and fair—every good path. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.
Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you.
Proverbs 2:9-11

I just celebrated my 50th birthday this weekend and to many people that would be not an occasion to celebrate but to mourn the passage of time. But not to
me, I celebrate it because I know that I am halfway home on this journey of life. I came up to spend the weekend with my parents because to them this was also
a milestone, their baby turned 50. My parents are both in their mid 80’s, and they have some health problems, and never knowing what tomorrow brings, I
wanted to be with them for my birthday, so my husband and I came up to their house. We didn’t do anything big, went to a restaurant and a great lunch and
enjoyed ourselves. Then we went shopping for a few things and walked around the store. I must say, I was pleased when I browsed through the Christmas
decorations at Walmart. Yes, I’m giving Walmart a ‘high five’ for all the truly Christmas decorations that they had. They had a great selection of Christmas cards
that reflected the true meaning of Christmas, the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. My mom bought me a door cover that had the nativity and has music! The
sign even said ‘Christmas’ above all the decorations. You see, in the past few years, too many stores have taken ‘Christmas’ out of ‘Christmas’ and replaced it
with only ‘Happy Holidays.’

In my 50 years, I have seen change so much. I didn’t have a color TV in my house until the mid 60’s, and we were one of the first. Now all TV’s are switching to
a digital signal! I watched the race to the moon, and now we have regular flights to a space station in the space shuttle! When I was a kid, we planned outside,
practically morning to night, and now kids stay inside mostly and play video games and watch TV! Smoking cigarettes was the norm for most and now you can’t
smoke in most public places! We never saw an ad for condoms, people never would put vulgar things on the windows of their vehicles, and living together
without the benefit of marriage was not the norm. People had values and morals according to God. We didn’t question whether the 10 Commandments
belonged in public, but accepted that these basic rules should govern our lives.

Rev Billy Graham started preaching before I was born and when I heard him, I wanted that personal relationship with God. But I was raised Catholic and so the
story goes. But Billy’s words stayed within me, and through out the years, God kept putting in my path, things that have lead me to where I am today. It was a
great day when I realized that I was born-again! No longer was I the smug Catholic looking down on other religions and saying “Well, we are the first church.”
Through the passage of time, God showed to me that when I say that “Jesus Christ is my Savior and Lord” I am putting my faith in Jesus Christ and not a
church. I’m saying, “I was lost” but God didn’t give up on me, and when my eyes were finally opened, I thought to myself, what took me so long!

Our faith is not with a church, but with God. Jesus tells us: “I AM the way, and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

Today, I’m asking each of you to look at your passage of time. What has your life been like so far? Are you looking at your passage as having no meaning? Are
you living your life in preparation for going home to be with the Lord? What are your core values: Are they in line with God’s or with the world?

Now that I’ve climbed up the hill and have come over the top, I am looking forward to this next part of my passage of time. I’m feeling more joy at the thought
that I’ve reached the top of the hill and see how far I’ve come. The next phase of my life I look forward to keep on giving praise to my Lord. God has brought me
to this place, full of life and full of trials! But He is with me and He knows the plans He has for my life, and that’s all I need to know. So as I begin being a half of a
century old, I see myself, doing more and more, busier than I thought I would have been. I’m actually excited at the feelings that I have and can’t wait for it. I
know God will see me through these trials that He has brought me to and that no matter what life will hand to me, God is with me.

The cost of following Jesus means that my life is not my own but His. I awake each morning giving thanks for another day and I go to sleep at night giving
thanks for the day. Things don’t always go the way I plan, but I trust that God will keep guiding me down this path and I know that eventually, all things will come
together. I give glory to God for what has happened, what is happening, and for what is to come. Life is too short to worry about tomorrow, live for today,
because tomorrow never comes. We don’t know the hour of when Jesus will return, so we must live our lives in reverent fear, following the way of the Lord, so
that when our day comes, we can go home. If we don’t live our lives in fear, the fear that we didn’t give our lives to God and followed all of His commands, Jesus
will say to us:
“I never knew you. Away from Me, you evildoers.” (Matthew 7:23)

Jesus wants us to carry our crosses with the same hope that He had when He carried His cross. He carried His cross, our sins, to death on that cross. Each
unkind word, each using the Lord’s Name in vain, each time we allow the devil to allow sexual immorality, greed, lust, lies, as we allow society to fall away from
God’s values and don’t do anything to stop it, but welcome it with open arms. Each murder of the unborn, each angry thought of our brothers and sisters,
caused Jesus to be inflicted with pain. He willingly, knowing the cost, died for you and for me. And we are to willingly take up our cross and die to our self and
rise up in Jesus. Jesus knew what was on the other side, His home and our home. During His short passage of time here on earth, God Himself, taught us. Let
us return to His Word and follow His Word in our lives. Don’t be afraid, because when you walk with Jesus, He will carry you.

I urge you to, if you live in the United States, to pray. We have set before us two choices for president. People say that the election is all about the economy,
but don’t be fooled. That’s the evil one trying to distract us again. Our leaders must follow the principles and values of God. Our leaders cannot ignore God’s
Word. God says, “Do not murder” and we must stop the murder of our unborn children. Jesus said: “But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and
female.’ For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but
one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate.” (Mark 10:6-9) We cannot allow society to dictate Satan’s lies to us. It is against God’s law
to murder. It is against God’s law for two men or two women to marry. And it is against God’s law to commit adultery, to divorce, to lie, to use the Lord’s Name in
vain, to work on the Sabbath, to worship money, people, things and not put God first in our lives. We dishonor our parents, we steal, and we covet. It’s time that
we stand up and truly be Christians and follow God’s Word. God doesn’t change. There are hard truths in Jesus’ Words, but most don’t want to hear them.
They only want to hear the fluff stuff. The road that is before Christians is a narrow one. Many claim to be Christians, but their lives reflect differently. They
support abortion, gay marriage and adultery. These things are not of God but are of the evil one.

But the Good News is this, if you will come before God and confess your sins and repent, God will forgive you. Start changing your life with this election. Be
forewarned: God is watching. He will hand us over to what we deserve. He doesn’t make us obey, but wants us to obey. Are you willing to obey God in all areas
of your life? Or are you willing to take a chance and be left outside of your true home and live eternity in hell’s fire? When you go to vote, say an honest pray to
God and ask Him for His truth.

But you, man of God, flee from all this and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold
of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witness. In the sight of God, Who gives life to
everything, and of Christ Jesus, Who while testifying before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, I charge you to keep this command without spot or blame
until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which God will bring about in His own time—God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and the Lord of
lords, Who alone is immortal and Who lives in unapproachable light, Whom no one has seen or can see. To Him be honor and might forever. Amen.
