Watch and See That No One Deceives You, part 2 Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all notions because of Me. At that time many will fall away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. Matthew 24:9-14 Last week we went over some hard sayings of Jesus, about how we have let sin overtake the world and have not seen how we have let sin into our own house. Jesus tells us that there are those of us who think that they are going to heaven but because of their sin of pride of self, they will not. Jesus said that there are those who will say to Him, “Did we not prophesy in Your Name, and in Your Name drive out demons and in Your Name perform many miracles.” (Matthew 24:7:22) Jesus told them to get away from Him because of the evil deeds that they had done. We see in the world where so many people who claim to know Him, walk in the way in which they think is good, because the evil one has implanted in their minds that certain Scriptures cannot be true and that we do not have to follow all of what the Bible says. Jesus is assuring us that the Scriptures cannot be broken and that we cannot put away the Word of God that we do not agree with. That is why knowing the Word is important and will take a lifetime of studying and reading the Word, to allow the Holy Spirit to give us discernment to understand them. And to know that discernment will take time. We need to keep His Word on our minds and realize that God is speaking to us through His Word. It takes time and relationship building with God to know Him and to trust in Him and His Word. Our standards are far from what the LORD requires of us. Jesus came so that He showed us that HE is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Only in following the way of the Lord will we know how we are to live. Let’s look at the difference between “faith” and “religion.” Religion in the world is how we worship God. There are many religions in the world, but only one true religion. When one looks at the other religions, we see that there are none who say what Jesus says. That He is the way, the truth and the life. And that only through Him can we come to the Father. (John 14:6) This is one of the key sayings of Jesus that will bring us into the kingdom of heaven. Our journey in life is to fulfill the inner craving of our heart to know the LORD. It is implanted in us by our Creator and will come to life if we open our hearts to Him. God knew that many would hardened their hearts and that is the work of the devil. He goes through the world looking to steal your soul. He plants in your journey things of the flesh, so that you will fall prey to his way. Satan is working hard to steal your soul and hardened your heart towards God. Many people do not believe in God because the evil one has placed in their hearts that God could not possibly exist. They claim a big bang started the universe. That God’s commandments have no meaning in our lives as long as we do good towards others, as we perceive good. They say that the God of the Old Testament could not be the same God of the New Testament, because the God of the Old was vindictive and Jesus taught love. Some even claim that Jesus was about the government taking care of the people and not people taking care of one another. But the devil’s truths are lies. The devil is the father of lies. It’s so hard to look into the world and see so many people dying in their sins. It’s hard to watch those you love not believing in God but we still have to try and open their hearts by the Words that the LORD gives you to say to them. We are talking about the End Times because we want you to understand that we love you and want you to be in heaven with us after we leave this world. We are trying to awaken in you your inner desire to know God. We are doing this because we are selfish and love you and want you to know the joy that we have and the Love that God has for you. God already knows everything there is to know about you. He knows your sin and loves you even though you do not want to know Him. That was the reason that Jesus came to earth, was to show you in person what God desires for our lives. He became a human so that we could see that we could walk in the way of the LORD and have a personal relationship with Him. In the beginning, God walked on the earth and spoke with Adam and Eve, but when sin entered, the relationship was shattered and God out of His Garden and into the world. But God tried to teach us through His prophets and though events and punished us when we did not follow His ways. God has always been our Father and by coming to earth He became our Brother, and by the indwelling of His Holy Spirit we have become one with Him. The beauty of the cross was that in Jesus’ death, and in our accepting Him as LORD and Savior, we are one with Him as it was in the beginning. When we follow the way of the LORD we are saying, “Yes, LORD, we surrender to You because we want to be one with You. We begin by telling Him we are sorry for our sin and to let His blood that was shed for us cleanse us and make us whiter than snow. We are born again, becoming as little children to learn of God and grow in His grace and mercy. How wonderful it is to know that God will keep on loving us. But if we do not believe and accept His mercy, He will let us die in our sin. He will not force us to accept the gift of the cross, our Salvation. Much of the confusion for believers is brought about by religion. Religion is man putting their spin on what God wants. We are not to call anyone “Father,” for we have only One Father in heaven. This title “Father” is for God only. We all having earthly fathers, but our Father is our Parent and only He gets to have that title. Each religion has its own rules to follow and they want you to join their religion and learn what rules you have to know to be a member of that religion. But in knowing Jesus, we will know the truth and the truth shall set us free. That is what faith is, knowing Jesus and becoming free from the bondage of sin that has been controlling our lives. Faith is believing in the One that the Father sent, Jesus, His Son, and our Savior. Faith is being one with God and living out our lives learning from Him. Faith is surrendering all that we are to God and letting Him show us His way and what He wants us to do in our lives. Faith is learning to begin like a child and grow in His mercy and grace. Faith is knowing that no matter what, God is for us so who can be against us. But, we say, the devil is against us. But, Jesus says, that if you abide in Him, He will be with you. God never leaves us without a way out from the schemes of the devil. We have to put on the amour of God and come to Him and He will not leave us as orphans. I love that phrase, He will not leave us as orphans: Another way in which Jesus is telling us that He and the Father are one. We find that as Christians we are being persecuted in many ways and many Christians have fallen from their faith. Their love has grown cold and they are tired of fighting the people who tell them that their way of God is wrong and that because God does not allow us to pursue happiness in the way that the devil wants us to, that God is not a loving God. How far they are from the truth of God and how sad to see them betray and hate because they have fallen from their faith. And sadly, there are many false prophets out there who are confusing the faithful and causing them to fall from faith. We see such hate in the media and the hate overflows into every part of their lives. They have given up on God and in doing so have given up their Salvation that Jesus died for on the cross. But we must stand firm to the end. We must not give up on our loved ones, we must not give up on all of God’s children; we must continue in our faith and share it with everyone. Who knows whether the words we speak will spark a seed of faith in them. We need to be seed planters, showing the love of God in every area of our lives. We need to speak God’s truth no matter what it costs us. We need to stand for God even in our voting for leaders for our country. We have to give God our whole lives and let His way be our way. We have to stand fast in the face of persecution as the devil lies to people and they hate us for what we speak and do. We have to say that God says this is His way and to walk in His way. That does not mean that we stop loving those who have fallen away, those that do not believe in God and those who are confused by the world who believes and listens to the father of lies. As Christians, we need to remember what Jesus did when a woman was brought before Him who was caught in adultery, we need not cast stones because our sins are greater than another’s. We need to forgive them and to tell them to sin no more. We need to tell them that Jesus died for their sin and that if we accept Jesus as our LORD and Savior: He will help us and guide us to follow His way if we will allow Him. Jesus can bring you out of any sin but you have to want to change. That is what born again means, we change ourselves in children and learn from God and follow His way. For those who have spouses, children, family members and friends who do not believe, keep on praying to the LORD for them. Ask God to soften their hearts so that they can open their hearts to God and allow Him into their lives. I encourage you to begin to look at the things that you are allowing in your life. As you begin your journey with the Lord, look at what you are watching, listening to, reading and doing and see if they line up with the Word of the LORD. If not, begin to purge them from your life and take each day and begin again in Jesus and allow Him to show you His way, His truth and His life. |
